REI – Great Opportunity or Constant Headache?

Real estate investing is a great opportunity to generate some passive cash flow and create massive wealth over time. It also gives you some control over your investment – a feature that does not exist with stocks, bonds, CD’s, mutual funds, ETF’s, and virtually any other type of investment you can make. One downside is that outside of a bank account balance, you can’t really see how well your investments are doing without some sort of bookkeeping. At first, it is pretty easy – a handful of receipts for repairs and maintenance, some bank account deposits for rent payments, and a spreadsheet or two. Once you get past two or three properties, everything starts becoming more complicated. What started out as an “investment” is turning into a second Job, which is not what you signed up for. Normal bookkeepers want to charge hundreds of dollars per month to manage your books, which would eat up most of your cash flow.

This is where we come in. The thing that most bookkeeping companies miss is that from a bookkeeping perspective, managing the books of a rental property investor is actually pretty easy compared to other types of businesses. There is a lot of standard bookkeeping “stuff” that is simply not needed for almost all rental property businesses. By using a more basic software solution and automating a lot of the typical tasks, we can offer a much lower price – as low as $50/month for a small rental portfolio.
